APTA House of Delegates – West Virginia Delegation

The House of Delegates (HOD) is an APTA policymaking body comprised of voting chapter delegates, non-voting delegates, and consultants. The HOD elects the Board Officers and Directors and votes on motions (RCs) that shape and impact the American Physical Therapy Association and the profession. Based on Chapter membership, West Virginia has two delegates. This year Dr. Chris Covert served as the Chief Delegate and Dr. Saurabh Mehta served as the Delegate. The WVPTA bylaws also allows for an alternate delegate in the event that one of the two delegates is unable to fulfill their duties. The Alternate Delegate this year was Dr. Jessica Dale. Serving as a Delegate in the HOD is an important and time-consuming role. In preparation for the actual House session, the Delegates spend months reading, reviewing, and discussing RC’s. They also are responsible for interviewing and vetting the candidates slated on the ballot for APTA elections. The HOD held a virtual session on August 28 and the main HOD session is this weekend (September 11-12, 2021).  Drs. Covert and Mehta have served admirably this year and the Board of Directors would like to thank them for their outstanding work.
