Haleigh Weese is a tristate native, second-year DPT student at Marshall University who has a passion for PT that goes beyond the classroom and even the clinic. Growing up, Haleigh was exposed to physical therapy through her father who has happily practiced for over 40 years. As a tech, she has seen the impact physical therapy has made in the lives of patients with a wide array of diagnoses. She believes that, as the next generation of PTs, it is our responsibility to play an active role in bettering our profession. By not only excelling as clinicians but also through innovation, participation, and advocacy efforts. As a profession that prides itself on empowering its patients to overcome from within, it is our duty to be empowered to do the same for ourselves and our patients. Over the past year, Haleigh has sought out volunteer opportunities, spoken at her school’s donor memorial ceremony, and is the elected APTA liaison for her cohort. At this time Haleigh hopes to become more involved with her profession outside of the classroom by running for the WVPTA SSIG vice president position. She thanks you for choosing this great profession and hopes you will consider her for Vice President of the WV SSIG.
