Jacqueline Adelle Nicholas, PTA, RBA

PTA Caucus Representative

Let me introduce myself, my name is Adelle Nicholas and I am a PTA here in the great state of WV. I am from the Huntington area where I still reside with my husband of 28 years and our 2 grown children. I have an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science Physical Therapists Assistant from Marshall University Community and Technical College and a Regents Bachelors of Arts from Marshall University. I am licensed in the state of WV and have been since 2002, the year prior to that I was licensed in the state of KY. I have 23 years of clinical experience, having worked in numerous settings including acute care (which I currently continue to practice), home health and skilled nursing. I became a Clinical Instructor in 2016 and in the fall of 2019, I was asked to the join the adjunct PTA faculty at Mountwest Community and Technical College. I was offered a full-time faculty position at Mountwest in the fall of 2022, which I accepted and was also given the responsibility of Assistant ACCE the following year. When I transitioned into academia was when I joined the APTA and became aware of all of the functions of the Association. Which leads me to why I am interested in the position that I have been nominated for, PTA Caucus Representative. From day one in this profession, I have been a strong advocate; at first it was for patients and now it is for my students. I would like the opportunity to use those skills to advocate for physical therapy and in particular the PTA. I feel strongly about the physical therapist’s assistant’s role in the care of patients with our particular knowledge base and clinical decision-making skills. I would like to have the opportunity to represent all PTAs at the state and national level.
