Lindsay Simpson, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy at Marshall University. Prior to joining academia, she practiced primarily in outpatient orthopedics and gained experience in home health and skilled nursing facility settings, giving her a broad understanding of physical therapy practice across the continuum of care.
Lindsay has been actively involved in the West Virginia Chapter of the APTA since 2024, including attending and presenting poster presentations at the annual conference. She further demonstrated her commitment to advocacy by participating in APTA WV Lobby Day in 2025 and 2026. At Marshall University, she teaches the professional practice curriculum, equipping future physical therapists with foundational knowledge in advocacy, policy, and professional engagement. Additionally, she is the Chair of the Service-Learning Committee at Marshall University, where she advocates for student involvement at the local, state, and national levels of the profession.
Beyond the classroom, Lindsay is deeply engaged in community service and professional leadership. She serves as the physical therapy lead for Marshall Medical Outreach, a monthly interprofessional clinic providing care to underserved and unhoused individuals in Huntington, West Virginia. Furthermore, she regularly volunteers at Marshall University’s pro bono PT clinic to help individuals without insurance or with insurance limits that prevent them from being seen at other clinics.
Through her local and state-level involvement, Lindsay has gained a clear appreciation of the importance of serving the profession and advocating for meaningful, lasting change. She recognizes that while states and regions may face distinct challenges, a strong and unified national voice is essential to advancing physical therapy practice. Lindsay seeks the opportunity to serve in a role where she can represent West Virginia and contribute to national dialogue, supporting decisions that strengthen the profession.
